Jail-N-Bail 2011!
Our fourth annual Jail-N-Bail was another huge success! The event was held on April 22, 2011 on the Quad. We jailed representatives from many campus organizations, including many sororities and fraternities. Due to rain, we had to end the event early, but we still raised over $1,000 for Children's Miracle Network, one of Phi Mu's national philanthropies. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's event!

Greek Week 2011!
Greek Week was 8 amazing days filled with 11 events aimed at Greek unity and pride. We had an amazing time participating in the events this week! The theme for the week was Classic Greek, with each team taking on the name of an ancient Greek city-state. We were on Team Corinth along with Sigma Delta Tau and Sigma Phi Epsilon.
Sisterhood Retreat!
This semester, the ladies of Gamma Delta went for an overnight retreat for the first time since Fall 2008! Retreat was held at the West River Retreat Center in West River, MD. About 63 of our sisters slept in three different cabins. The highlight of the trip was when sisters had a chance to use the giant swing! Sisters got strapped into a harness and got hooked up to the swing. A group of about 10 or more sisters had to pull a sister up a certain height and then she would swing down. Everyone had a great time on the swing! Afterwards, we did quick sisterhood bonding activities and everyone had dinner in their lodges to bond with their fellow lodge mates. We had a huge bonfire complete with s'mores and Phi Mu cheers. Everyone had a relaxing night, bonded and hung out with their lounge mates. Retreat was great! Sisters got to spend quality time with each other without the distractions of school and jobs in a great environment. We played games and had some great talks. We also got to be silly with each other. It was a great opportunity to get to know our new sisters as well.

Initiation: Spring 2011
On Friday, March 18, the Gamma Delta chapter welcomed 26 amazing women into the bond of Phi Mu. It was a special evening for the entire chapter and especially for our newest sisters. Congratulations!
Inspiration Week!
It’s hard to believe that eight short weeks ago we welcomed our newest pledge class, Spicy Spring 2011. Bid Day was a whirlwind of excitement and after getting to know our new Phis the excitement continued to grow. I have loved every minute of teaching them about Phi Mu and helping them envision their future places in Gamma Delta. Finally, it’s time for the most exciting part of the Phi Process (maybe after Big/Little week), Inspiration Week! This is a week where the Phis can start getting completely ready for Initiation. The Phis had a fun-filled week of activities designed to engage the Phis in the last week of their Phi Process- from bonding more with the chapter, their Phi class, and the Fraternity.
Founders' Day: 159 years of Phi Mu sisterhood
On Sunday, February 27th, the Gamma Delta Chapter celebrated 159 years of Phi Mu sisterhood. Since March 4th, 1852, Phi Mus have lived their lives according to the founding ideals of Love, Honor, and Truth. This year's celebration was held in the Founder's Room at American University, where both collegians and alumnae meet to share a brunch and take part in the Founders' Day Ceremony. During the ceremony, each sister donated $1.59, a penny for each year since Phi Mu's founding, to Phi Mu Foundation to support our sisters in scholarship, leadership, and philanthropic endeavors. Thank you to all of our alumnae who attended the event and who continue to support our chapter.
